Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation

Class Description

This 4 week series runs Sundays - Feb. 4th, 11th, 18th & 25th from 7PM- 8:30PM Week 1. – We will begin with a basic overview of what mindfulness and meditation are, introduce a basic breath meditation and go over a couple practical exercises. Week 2. – We will delve into mindfulness of thoughts and practice techniques for dealing with anxiety, stress and grief and have a discussion on self-acceptance. Week 3. – We will discuss materialism and consumption and how to better navigate our consumerism. Week 4. – In the final session we will learn heart opening practices for forgiveness, gratitude and Metta (loving-kindness). Comfortable clothing recommended. Please feel free to bring a meditation cushion or bench and yoga mat. (Chairs are available.) The cost of this course is $80 or apply for a scholarship.
